Switzerland said “yes” to the electricity law!
In the fall of 2023, Parliament approved the Federal Act on a Secure Electricity Supply Based on Renewable Energies. The law establishes the foundation for rapidly increasing domestic electricity production from renewable energy sources such as water, solar, wind, and biomass. A referendum was launched against the project for a secure electricity supply, but it was successful. On June 9, 2024, the Swiss people approved the project with 68.7% of the vote.
Thanks to all EDGE research partners, support partners and implementation partners, the EDGE consortium continues to provide scientific evidence to accelerate the growth of locally sourced decentralized renewable energy in Switzerland. Detail results on the vote of 9 June 2024 are available via the link below.
